Supergirls at The British Masters

On Sunday 7th May 2017 Izzy, Lucy and Akvile took part in The British Masters in the Lea Valley Athletics Centre in North London.

It was an early start – up at 4.30am, on the road at 5.15am, Weigh in at 7.30am.

Lucy was on first. She listened to her coach and worked well using her second intention to score several body and Headshots on the PSS. Lucy won by point gap 26 -1. Whilst waiting for the final Lucys thumb started to swell, not sure that it would take another hit Lucy and her coaches decided to withdraw her from the final. Silver for Lucy.

Akvile in her first competitive match had a really tough match against Katie Bradley who regularly competes and has medalled in major competitions around the world. Akvile started well only conceding a few point in the first round. However, in the second round Katie found her range and scored several back kicks and head kicks. Akvile lost by point gap. She really enjoyed it, is looking forward to the next competition, and picked up a bronze medal.

It wasn’t the best day for Izzy. After some good preparation in the lead up to the competition, there was no opponent for her on the day. Gold for Izzy.

With only 3 fighters the dtkd team came 23rd out of 29 teams – good result!

Well done to the Supergirl Trio. Also well done to the coaches (Marcin and Marcin) and the parent supporters and drivers.
