DTA Virtual Hanmadang 2020

Introduction

I am extremely excited to announce that Dorset Taekwondo Association will be hosting our very own Virtual (online) Hanmadang Competition from 1st – 10th May 2020 (upload your videos during this period).

For those of you that didn’t take part in our 2019 Hanmadang Competition you might not be familiar with the concept.   The Korean word “Hanmadang” literally translates to Festival, so a Taekwondo Hanmadang is a celebration of the sport which enables people of all ages to demonstrate their skill at the same time as having fun and competing. 

Entry is FREE and simple.

2. Perform and video yourself doing each event.
3. Submit your four videos using the link at the bottom of this page. (Its a simple drag and drop – contact us if you have any problems) (Max 40MB per video)

Event Details

The virtual hanmadang will have the following 4 events.

1. ICB – Individual Creative Breaking 
2. ITF – Individual Traditional Forms
3. STK – Speed turning kicks (20secs)
4. SPB – Speed Bounce


Registration and Entry

Please be sure to provide your postal address so that we can post you the required boards for the creative breaking event. Entries will close at Midnight on May 5th.

Event Descriptions and Videos

1. ICB – Individual Creative Breaking 
Each participant will be posted two 5mm demo boards. They then have 45 seconds to creatively break the boards using any Taekwondo Technique*. Participants will be scored on the following:- Creativity, Technical Difficulty, Height, Taekwondo Spirit, Accuracy and Presentation.
Smaller novice competitors are welcome to use soft targets instead of wooden boards.

* Care must be taken by yourself and the board holders – please see further precautionary instructions in the Registration Link*.

2. ITF – Individual Traditional Forms
Participants will perform a Traditional Form / Pattern / Poomsae of your choice. Participants will be scored on the following:- Correct Execution, Taekwondo Spirit, Accurate Sequence of Movements and Presentation.

3. STK – Speed Turning Kicks 
Speed turning kicks using a kick target, pillow, or cushion.  Participants will be timed on how many alternating turning kicks they can perform on the target in a 20 second period. The target should be held at belt height. Winner will be declared by the person who performs the most kicks. There will also be a prize for the most Taekwondo Spirit as we appreciate that you don’t all have kick targets at home.


4. SPB – Speed Bounce
Starting from stationary feet together jump hurdle sideways as many times as you can in 30 secs. The hurdle height should be approximately 10-15 cms.

Prizes
Prizes will be posted to the winner of each category – Prizes include uniforms, water bottles and medals.
Categories will be separated by age and gender depending upon the number of entries.
As well as category prizes there will be a award for overall best 4 videos for effort / determination and Taekwondo spirit shown for the 4 events.
There might also be an award for the best blooper.
